The house swiftlets are also known as white nest swiftlets (Aerodramus fuciphagus). These house swallows/swiftlets feed on insects in the surrounding jungles and bushes, similar to those of the cave swiftlets. Thus, there is no difference in the substance of the bird nests produced by house swiftlets and cave swiftlets.
The bird nests are rich in nutritional ingredients which are traditionally believed, now scientifically proven to provide health benefits such as alleviating asthma, improving voice, aiding digestion, slowing down ageing, enhancing skin complexion and benefiting overall immune system.
In fact, the bird nest cup produced by house swiftlets are of better quality than those produced by cave swiftlets. This is because the house nests are harvested after the young swiftlet leaves the nests whereas for the cave nests, due to the height of the cave and difficulty in harvesting, the frequency of harvesting are lesser. When the workers climb up to pluck the bird nests, they are prone to disturb and remove the bird nests which still house the infant swiftlets. In so doing, the ecological equilibrium is adversely disturbed.

In our partners' factory, bird's nests are cleaned using distilled water . The dust, sand and small particles are washed away using a brush. The feathers and other foreign solid materials are further removed by using a pair of forceps. The purpose is to make the bird nest as if it is first constructed by the swallow/swiftlet without impurity. The cleaned bird's nests are freeze-dried/dried using a fan. Throughout the process, no additives, bleaching agent and chemicals are adulterated into the bird nests.
