1. Which one is better, bird nest produced by house swiftlet/swallow or that by cave swiftlet/swallow?
Answer: In fact, the bird nest produced by house swiftlet is better than that of the cave swiftlet. Both house swiftlet and cave swiftlet feed on the same type of food namely insects. The bird nest produced by house swiftlet is under controled environment in the sense that the farmer waits for the infant bird to leave its nest before harvesting whereas the cave bird nest is harvested periodically over a period of time. In respect of house bird nest, after it is abandoned by the swiftlet, it will not be reused again by the same swiftlet or other swiftlets. If it is left unharvested, the bird nest will be consumed by scavengers like cockroach, lizards, ants etc. With respect the cave bird nest, the climbers will normally pluck all the bird nest available in the cave regardless whether the bird nest is still used by the infant bird.
